Relaxed

Song: “Free Ride” by The Edgar Winter Group

Movie: (Dazed and Confused)

The song “Free Ride” is played in the movie Dazed and Confused while everyone is getting ready for the big party at Kevin’s house. It is the calm before the storm.  Girls get dressed for a night out, kids drive to a fast food restaurant to grab a quick bite, and people cruise down the highway excited for the evening’s festivities. As the song plays in the background, everyone is moving or nodding their heads to the beat of the music. The song sets the tone for a cool and laid back evening; “The mountain is high, the valley is low.  And you’re confused ’bout which to go.  So I flew in to give you a hand, And lead you into the promised land.  Come on and take a free ride.”  The characters are relaxed and elated.   Everyone seems to be forgetting about their problems for the night as they get ready to hang out with their friends and live in the moment.

This song is perfect for cruising around with your friends, and just relaxing. The laid back tune, electric guitar riffs, tambourine beat, and mellow lyrics make it a great song to just let go and loosen up; “Come on and take a free ride. Free ride. Come on and take it by my side.”  This song brings happiness and a feeling that everything will be alright. Listening to this song can help set a relaxed mood and transfer you to a world where all worries fade.
