Cheerful

Song: “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens

Movie: (La Bamba)

“La Bamba” is one of the songs that made Richie Valens famous back in the 1950’s. Originally a Mexican folk song, Ritchie Valens made La Bamba popular when he added a rock and roll beat and electric guitar sound to make it modern and hip. In the film Ritchie first hears the song played in a brothel.  He remembers the song from his youth and decides to use it on the B side of his single record Donna.  Despite his agent having reservations about using a Spanish song, Ritchie is positive his twist will make it popular and successful among teens.  When Ritchie plays the song on a tour with other up and coming artists like Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper everyone goes crazy. No one seems fazed at all that the lyrics are in Spanish.  The song shows that good music can be sung and enjoyed in any language.  The song brings cheer and happiness to everyone who listens to it. This song encompasses Ritchie Valens’ happy and buoyant personality in the movie

Want to feel happy and upbeat?  La Bamba is the perfect song for getting you into a fun and cheerful mood. The fast paced lyrics and quick beat are naturally appealing.  The song has a good flow and creates a happy, optimistic mood. You might not know what you are singing, but the quick paced lyrics will have you smiling and feeling cheerful.
